Traditional Story of Amavasya

Moon or Chandra Dev, was a young, fair and handsome boy with a lotus and a mace in his hands. He married 27 daughters of King Daksh Prajapati. In which Rohini was the most attractive, hence Rohini was his most beloved wife. He left twenty-six other wives to spend more time with her. Twenty-six wives complained to their father Daksh. Hearing this, Daksh became angry at Moon’s unfairness and prejudice and he cursed that Moon God would gradually become less beautiful.
